How to Use the Hardiness Zone Lookup
Type a city and state (for example Austin, TX), a state name or code, or a five-digit ZIP code, then press Look Up. The tool matches your input to an approximate hardiness zone. Use Clear to reset the form.
What the result means
The USDA zone describes the average coldest winter temperature a plant must survive.
A higher number means a milder winter; a lower number means a colder one.
ZIP codes are matched by their first digit to a broad regional band, so they are coarser than a city match.
These values are approximate and do not account for microclimates, elevation or urban heat islands.
