What the result means
Times are given in local standard time derived from longitude, so they can differ from clock time by up to an hour where daylight saving or political time zones apply.
Daylight length depends on latitude and the season: summer days are longer, winter days shorter.
Inside the polar circles the tool reports midnight sun (24 hours) or polar night (0 hours) instead of a rise and set time.
The estimate uses a simplified NOAA solar-position formula and ignores elevation, weather and refraction at the horizon.
